Activity Groups
This book by Jojo Moyes gained universal approval from the group. It had been suggested by Mikki as a favourite of hers.
The characters were considered "very real" and were drawn accurately. The situations that the characters found themselves in were considered extreme. The character Margery was very brave. Working in the book library provided challenges for young women way outside the prevailing norms of culture in Kentucky in the 1930s. All of the group were immediately absorbed in the story, though some thought the start of it sounded unlikely. All agreed that the exploitation of the general populace was starkly described, as was the manipulation by those considered the "ruling class" in the society.
The group agreed that the title of the book did not match the content of the story. At the conclusion of the discussion all had a big smile and would strongly recommend the book
