August 2019 walk

August 2019 walk

The August walk from 'The Black Horse' at Walcote was led by Graham and Kath.  There were sixteen walkers which was still a good turnout given that several regulars were missing for a variety of reasons.  We set off through the village and by the playground turned right going downhill and crossing the River Swift.  We then followed the waymarked track passing Waterfield Spinney and Oback Farm.  When we reached the intersection just before Burns Farm we turned right and followed this track until we reached the narrow unnamed road that links the A4304 with Lutterworth Road.   Here we stopped for our break and decided that there was insufficient time to make it to Kimcote,  therefore chose to follow the road towards Walcote passing Hayworthe Lodge, Tower Farm and Hill Farm.  After crossing the bridge over the River Swift, we went uphill until we reached the waymark on our right.  This track over the field led us back into Walcote and it was only a short distance back to the pub and an excellent lunch.

We already have volunteers to lead 8 of the 11 walks in 2020 leaving February, June and September still to fill.
