October 2019 walk

October 2019 walk

The October walk from 'The Coach and Horses' at Lubenham was led by Jenny and Janet.  There were twenty four walkers (including two new members) on what was a cool but dry morning.  Leaving the pub we turned left and then first left into Rushes Lane.  Passing the church we went under the disused railway arches then into the grounds of Thorpe Lubenham Hall.  Crossing the hall drive a few of us tackled the muddy stretch by the River Welland before joining the rest of the group on Marston Road.  At St Nicholas church we took the track on the left across the fields and up Marston Lane until we reached the Jurassic Way marker.  Taking the track on our right we soon reached St John the Baptist Church in East Farndon where we had our break.  We then walked down Main Street passing Marston Trussell Road and the village hall.  Nearing the end of the village we took the waymarked track on the left which brought us out onto Lubenham Road.  We followed this road to the edge of the village and taking the track on the right came into School Lane.  It was then a short walk to Main Street and back to the pub for lunch.

Looking ahead to 2020, many thanks to those who have already volunteered to lead walks but we still need volunteers for the 27th February and 24th September.
