October 2024 walk

The October walk from The Shires at Peatling Parva was led by Janet and Jenny.  Leaving the pub we turned right and continued along Main Street until we reached St Andrew's churchyard on our left.  Passing through the churchyard we took the track straight ahead and then diagonally across the next field to Prestland's Farm.  Following the farm track to the spinney we paused where the two tracks intersect.  At this point the short walkers went straight ahead whilst the main group turned left and followed the track to Ashby Road.  Here we turned right by Oak Farm following the road until we reached a track on our left opposite Willow Farm.  We kept on this track to the edge of Gilmorton where we crossed a small field on our left exiting onto Mill Lane.  Turning left we carefully walked along the road passing the Old Windmill on our right.  On reaching a sharp right hand bend in the road we crossed into the field next to the entrance to Flat House Farm where we had our break.  Continuing along this waymarked track we arrived back at Oak Farm on Ashby Road where we turned right.  We then carefully walked along the road passing Pine Tree Alpacas back to the Shires for our lunch.
