June 2024 walk

June 2024 walk

The June walk from The Gate Hangs Well at Carlton was led by John and Pat.  Leaving the pub we crossed the road into Main Street and continued down the street passing St Andrew's church on our left.  At the edge of the village we turned right into Shackerstone Walk and at the end of the cul-de-sac entered the Leicestershire Round.  After a short distance we came to an intersection where a few of the group turned left to do a shorter walk.  The main group continued straight ahead leaving the Round and on reaching Congerston Road turned left.

At the junction we turned right heading towards Market Bosworth and just over Carlton Bridge took the track on the left to join the Ashby de la Zouch Canal towpath.  On reaching King's Bridge we left the towpath taking the way-marked track towards Market Bosworth.  After crossing several fields we had our break in the shade of some trees near St Peter's Private Academy and further on turned left onto the Round.  After a short distance we turned right and followed the track round the edge of Allotment Covert.  We then continued on this track passing Bosworth Mill and arrived in the grounds of St Andrew's church.  Turning right on Main Street we were soon back at the pub for an excellent lunch which was worth the wait.

We still need a leader for the November walk, please.
